Heath Farm School Parent Workshops
We have been lucky to be able to offer some valuable workshops to the Heath Farm School community. These gave our parents and carers an opportunity to gain an insight into our reading scheme, online safety and challenging behaviour, anti-bullying and relationship and sex education.
Due to the location and the transport provided for our children and young people we miss a vital part of getting to know each other as parents and carers and school on a face to face basis. This can reinforce the isolation that our parents and carers can at times feel. The focus of the workshops is not only to get an insight and understanding within the different areas but to have time to chat in an informal space with others that have similar experiences.
Lunch is provided by the local tea rooms and consists of generous portions of delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches.
This year, due to the success of our workshops, I have organised seven workshops throughout the year. I believe that parents are often the experts when it comes to understanding their own children and with information they can gain from the workshops they can develop that expertise. We are also looking at developing awareness around online safety and child exploitation.
